  • AT&T Trinity Golf Course-400 raw acres on the former Simpkins Landfill providing assistance to the lead Project Engineer Team with site inventory, analysis, and existing tree survey and identification for thousands of mitigatable species.

  • Trinity River Horse park-500 acres site on the closed Elam Road Landfill providing assistance to the lead Project Engineer Team with site inventory, analysis, and existing tree survey and identification for thousands of mitigatable species.

 

City of Dallas, Parks and Recreation Department,

Dallas, TX                                                                                                                                                                     2006 – 2012

Senior Landscape Architect/Project Manager

Managed diverse projects including traditional park improvements and playgrounds, dog parks, trails, athletic complexes, brownfield and landfill reclamations and erosion control.  Developed and reviewed construction documents, plans and specifications. Oversaw all stages of construction from land acquisition, surveying, right-of-ways, surveys, platting, easements, council approvals, permitting and sustainability and environmental issues.

Provided technical expertise, on-site management and value engineering. Controlled multiple budgets ranging from $150,000 to $34 million. Head of department’s Design Team Standards group.

  • Urban Park/Downtown Revitalization Park-Managed design and construction of Belo Garden Park, a successful conversion of the 1.5-acre former downtown parking lot and brownfield. Secured additional $200,000 grant and guided the project through EPA/TCEQ compliance. Oversaw public-private partnership with more than $18 million budget.

  • Regional Athletic Sports Complex-Managed design, development, land acquisitions, and construction of $34 million Elm Fork Athletic Complex, a 140-acre reclamation upon a former landfill and first smart growth with green infrastructure park site in Dallas, Texas. Created new standards for Dallas Water Utilities; drought policy; O & M partnerships. Guided hazardous waste work through numerous local, state and national agencies.

  • Specialized Park-Oversaw conversion of former dump site into the seven-acre Wagging Tail Dog Park. Brought $1.2 million well within budget, saving city and taxpayers more than $100,000.

Associate Partner/Landscape Architect

Managed small landscape architectural design partnership and construction office, providing services including new land development, subdivision/community planning & development, parks, trails, community gateways, and high-end residential design. As well as sales, marketing, business development, project management, consultations, estimating, scheduling, contracting and purchasing.

  • Planning-Created master plan for the 163-acre community in last large open space in Colleyville, TX.  The Reserve was a sustainable and responsible site development with 153 individual graded lots, retaining 95% of existing trees, green alleyways, and connections to a central 5-acre park with a three-pond system, trails, and amenities. Designed entrance portals and enhanced intersections with custom stone and iron features.

  • Planning-Develop master plan for a 22-acre planned residential community, capturing surrounding views, green space, custom stone, and ironwork. Provided open spaces, sited with the existing land and master plan through construction documentation.
